New Forest Farm Machinery, moves on a generation.

New Forest Farm Machinery moves on a generation and two of the Founding Directors of New Forest Farm Machinery (NFFM) based in Blashford, near Ringwood have agreed a share sale to the company’s remaining co-founder Mike Smales, as co-Directors Henry Richardson and Dan Tanner take retirement from the business.

New Forest Farm Machinery has been the main John Deere dealer in the area for some forty years and provides sales and after-sales service for farm machinery, professional grounds-care, construction equipment and home-owner machinery – within Hampshire, Dorset and Somerset.

The Smales family have been fully involved with New Forest Farm Machinery from the very beginning and have helped develop the company to where it is today. This share transfer has been agreed mutually between the co-founders and reflects the need for NFFM to develop succession in the future management of the business. Together the team has developed a first-class reputation in the area for high-quality customer support, with a range of products which are really considered the market leaders. They’ve built a very successful business together and see this move as a step-up to allow further growth and expansion. Mike Smales commented, “I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Henry and Marie Ann Richardson, for all their hard efforts and professionalism over the years and Dan Tanner in a supporting role that has allowed us to achieve this status.”

New Forest Farm Machinery has always been a family business and continues on that same path. Mike Smales is now sole owner of the business; Ed Smales who has been Sales Director for the company for the past two years will now be Managing Director within the new company structure. Edwards’s brother Tim Smales who joined the company in a sales and marketing role, will put to use his significant experience within the professional greens keeping field.

Ed added, “We are always striving to better our company offering, through focusing on customer support and investing for the future. We are always looking for young people to come and join us because we believe we offer a great employment opportunity. All employees are taken through extensive training programmes with many reaching the highest levels of certification as recognised by British industry. New Forest Farm Machinery has a great future and we look forward to continuing our trading relationship with you all in the future as the business moves on a generation.

We also need to give you advanced warning that during October and November we will be extending the front office and show room and this is expected to create some disruption. As a result we will not be running a Christmas open evening but will be planning an event in 2018.

Edward Smales Managing Director
